How much do I need to invest?

The cost of the course is 400 UK pounds in advance.

This includes all the training, assessment and certification.

Classes can also be paid per module, at 45 UK pounds per class.

 

In order to practice your Shiatsu for money in health clubs or gyms you will need insurance and Membership of the professional association, the shiatsu society of Great Britain. This comes to approximately £100

If you are going to be self employed, and generate business through your own efforts, you will need leaflets, business cards and posters- these can be got from commercial printers, and £50-100 will be enough to get started.

 

How much time will it take to get qualified?

11 weeks, assuming you attend a class each week and do two practice treatments each week.

 

Do I need insurance to practice?

There is no law saying you need to insurance to practice shiatsu- however most clubs, gyms, clinics etc will require that you have it.

 

How do I find work after I’ve qualified?

You can apply to commercial massage companies, like D-Stress, Walk in Back Rub, Stressbusters. Also you can contact studios businesses and individual companies offering your services. You can apply to work in Gyms and Health clubs near you.

You can hire space at holistic exhibitions and give short taster treatments to people- this serves to introduce people to the treatment and helps to get clients to invest in full body treatments.

 

How much can I expect to earn?

You can expect to earn about of £20 per working Hour. If you find your own clients, maybe 25 or 30, if you work for organisations like D-Stress, Onsite Massage Company, Stressbusters, Walk in back rub, they pay upwards of 20 per hour.

 

What if people who want shiatsu have illnesses or conditions that need medical treatment.
